"i have this theory that, when it comes to clothing, the phrase "i can't pull that off" is a myth.however, i forgot to say what "this" was.
i am totally wrong.
i definitely cannot pull this off.
i should know.
i spent thirty minutes making one and felt like a little girl when i put it on."
i was referring to this headband.
i made one, as i mentioned, wore it to see harry potter, and i'm still not sure about it.
can you see me wearing that?
what do you think?
here's what i think:
if it were all one color, i could pull it off. i think, if i attempt this again [which i probably will], i'll use black grosgrain with black chiffon or lace or something not so... bedsheet-y [which is what i used for the buds on my trial headband].
but i just don't know.
-my pre-departure goal is to master "take on me" on expert on ddr supernova.
i will not fail.
i will conquer.
and i will take a victory lap around the family room
-one time i had a conversation with my fellow jorgensens concerning food.
the following question was posed:
"if you could live anywhere just for the food, where would you live?"
i, at the time, chose the mediterranean.
pasta, gyros, pizza, falafel... what more could i possibly ask for??
but times have changed.
and i think i'll have to pick mexico.
i constantly crave it.
CONSTANTLY.
earlier today i daydreamed about an eighty-nine cent chicken burrito from taco bell paired with a nice, tall, cold horchata.
-a couple days ago, i went to the orem library [for the second time this week] to return some unsatisfying music and pick up some cds of artists i've recently discovered/always wanted to check out.
it was wonderful.
can i share it with you?
oh, i forgot! this is my blog! i can say whatever i want to say and you, the lowly reader, can do absolutely nothing about it! BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA!
[sorry. that was completely uncalled for. i just couldn't help myself.]
1. hello, dolly! original broadway cast recording
carol channing is simply charming. i adore her gravelly voice.
however, i have little to say about the rest of the cast.
i was expecting good things from the guy who played cornelius hackl, but i was left disappointed. there's nothing more disgusting than forced, shaky vibrato. ew.
2. ballad of the broken seas // isobel campbell & mark lanegan
isobel campbell's voice is sweet, breathy, and dreamy.
mark lanegan sounds like johnny cash in his later years.
but he's forty-four.
apprently he was in the queens of the stone age.
he was the lead singer.
i don't think i'll be checking them out anytime soon.
there aren't many listenable tracks on this album for me, but i enjoyed "(do you wanna) come walk with me?" and "revolver".
3. in ear park // department of eagles
these guys are a recent find.
and by "recent" i mean "this morning."
DOE is made up of grizzly bear's daniel rossen and his former college roommate fred nicolaus.
i listened to three songs on their website,
downloaded "no one does it like you" for free off said website,
looked up the band in the orem library database and never looked back.
if i could describe this album in one word, i would choose "spring".
4. smokey rolls down thunder canyon // devendra banhart
i've heard this man's name thrown around for some time now, i've seen his cameo in nick & norah's infinite playlist [twice], and i'm just now listening to him.
i got fourteen tracks into this album and had to stop.
i just don't know what to think about dear devendra.
every song is so completely different.
i do know, however, that i enjoyed the first three tracks very much.
5. "oh, you're so silent jens" // jens lekman
i love this man.
and i love this compilation.
when i was still in rexburg, i would listen to him as i rode my bike to and from work.
i felt like i was in a movie set in the 1960s.
6. perfecting loneliness // jets to brazil
my favorite.
i think i'm kind of in love with blake schwarzenbach.
7. friend // grizzly bear
favorite track: css's cover of "knife".
genius.
the rest of it? i don't know... i'm still deciding if i like it.
-right now i'm reading the actor and the housewife, shannon hale's newest novel.
i am a huge fan of her writing style [the first time i finished austenland, i closed the book, sighed, and started reading it all over again. RIGHT after i finished it! that's how good it is],
and that hasn't changed in this novel, but the story is just... weird.
i don't know what to make of it.
and i don't understand a lot of it.
i would elaborate, but i don't want to ruin the storyline for those who have yet to read it [or bore the heck out of anyone else who might be reading this].
-i am the proud owner of these shoes.
i feel like i'm walking on air.
-i took two quizzes for OSSO in preparation for my departure earlier this week.
as a whole, it took approximately 2.75 hours to complete both.
but it was all worth it.
it's really hitting me hard that i'm leaving and i'm scared and nervous and overwhelmed, but so excited.
all experiences that make me feel like this before they even start are good for me.
it's good to feel uncomfortable, to do something different, to make the most out of life.
south america will be good for me.

1) You probably ROCK that head-band! Those types of accessories always take some guts and getting used to.
2) Devendra is crazy-go-nuts. He's great though! My favorite of his songs is 'At the Hop'.
3) When you go to Ecua you have to go to a soccer game. HAVE TO.
4) I just love you and hope you're having a good day.
CIAO!
you totally rocked the headband. don't second guess yourself.
